about us

We are a very friendly group dedicated to helping people learn to speak in public with confidence and skill. We also like to enjoy ourselves, and our meetings generally have an easy, relaxed atmosphere.

As a newcomer you will be fully supported, with a mentor if you wish for one, educational manuals, and plenty of experienced speakers around you to assist you. We have speakers of all ages and abilities learning the art of public speaking.

Whether you want to feel more confident giving presentations at work, develop your communication skills generally, or need to build up the courage to give a Best Man's speech, this is the place to start. Come along as a guest to one of our meetings, and take it from there. You are very welcome.

Jan,
Club President.

As Vice President of Education its my task to manage the speech bookings at our meetings, and to help our 50-strong member-base achieve their personal speaking requirements and goals.

I have been a member for nearly three years now, and I have thoroughly enjoyed mixing with a variety of like-minded, sociable, positive and supportive people. The personal skills I have been continually developing since joining have been beneficial in several areas of my life.

Anyone with a determined attitude towards overcoming their fears of speaking in public, (no matter how deeply ingrained) can rest assured that they will be warmly welcomed at Windsor Speakers, and enthusiastically supported on their journey towards becoming a skilled and confident speaker.

Dean,
Vice President of Education, and Webmaster.

As Vice President of Mentoring, I essentially help members that want to be mentored by pairing them up with other members that have and want to impart some of their knowledge and skills gained to others.

From Windsor Toastmasters, I get a supportive atmosphere, particularly one in which I can test new presenting techniques before I unleash said technique on the rest of the world!

Joining has improved my confidence and public speaking abilities. It has definitely been a massive change for me - I recall breaking into a sweat and the beads of sweat falling onto the overhead projector and smudging what I had written on the foil in a presentation many years ago! I have been exposed to many different speaking and presentation styles. This has in turn, helped me in my delivery of speeches and table topics!

Ade,
Vice President of Mentoring.

I joined Windsor Speakers two years ago in order to improve my confidence and verbal communication. Since becoming a member, I have felt that confidence and communication improve dramatically, along with my overall self esteem.

Since becoming a toastmaster, I have been conquering my fears of public speaking and have also gained some valuable leadership skills which are helping me in all areas of my life including work, social situations; just about any situation!

Most people are fearful of public speaking but just imagine the feeling of accomplishment once that fear has been addressed.

With a friendly, positive network of people offering encouragment along the way, I guarantee joining Windsor Speakers will change your life for the better.

Pete,
Club Secretary.

Toastmasters has given me a great opportunity to learn about both writing and delivering speeches. I have become more confident in my ability to talk in front of an audience and I am much more aware of how I can use the power of my voice to get my message across.

I have also learnt about how useful humour can be to break the ice with an audience and grab their attention.

Through taking on evaluation roles I have been able to enhance my listening skills and I have learnt how to deliver constructive criticism. On that note, stop aimlessly surfing the internet and join Windsor Speakers!

Ian,
Club Treasurer.

I am the Sargeant at Arms and at each meeting I bring the meeting to order, and count the votes for the best speaker awards.

Windsor Speakers is a great opportunity to meet people from the wider community which gives me a foundation of confidence for meeting clients and people at work.

Joining Windsor Speakers has improved my poise and confidence in public speaking and my communication skills have improved in general.

Phil,
Sargeant at Arms.
