Who we are...part of the Toastmaster's movement Windsor Speakers is a club for people in Berkshire, offering you the opportunity to discover and practice the art of public speaking. And, because it is part of Toastmasters International, our members also benefit from the wealth of experience in public speaking that exists within the worldwide Toastmasters movement. Over three million people have participated in Toastmasters and none of them wears a red coat! There are over four thousand current members in more than 160 clubs in the UK and Ireland. Our sister club, Maidenhead Toastmasters, has been running for over 20 years. By joining Windsor Speakers, you will be embarking on a programme that will multiply your communication and leadership skills. For many, public speaking is just where it begins. Success in life is often dependent on your ability to communicate well. Individuals who can express their ideas - so that they are heard, understood and acted upon - possess one of the prime qualities of leadership. You too can gain these same benefits - benefits that will change your life. As a member of Windsor Speakers, you will learn to overcome the initial nervousness everyone feels when called upon to speak in public. You will learn how to organise and present your ideas logically and convincingly. You will improve your ability to listen to other people's ideas and evaluate them. In addition you will develop self-confidence that will radiate in every situation involving other people. Members of Toastmasters have a great deal of experience to offer each other. Many members form lasting friendships and quite a few clubs can boast husband and wife members. Many members can also relate how Toastmasters membership has positively helped their careers. If you are interested in competitive public speaking, annual contests are held in speaking, humorous speaking, impromptu speaking and speech evaluation. And it's not expensive: Toastmasters is a not-for-profit organisation and membership costs are modest. It costs just £15 to join Windsor Speakers, plus £36 for each six months membership. When you join, you get a Toastmasters manual, which takes you through your first 10 speeches, at the end of which you may apply for a Competent Toastmaster's Award. You also get booklets on dealing with nerves and improving your voice quality. Windsor Speakers Toastmasters club no: 758236 |
